The South Funen Archipelago encompasses an abundance of islands – large and small, inhabited and uninhabited.
A fine ferry system makes it possible to travel back and forth among the inhabited islands, where many of the islanders primarily earn their living from farming, a little fishing or commute to jobs on the ‘mainland’.

The idyllic villages on the islands are quite charming and the cultivated fields with their rich, fertile soil are typically surrounded by hedgerows.

The luxuriant wildlife is teeming with many rare plants and animals, which is why parts of the islands are designated as nature reserves or bird sanctuaries with limited access during the breeding period from 1 March to 15 July. Further details are available under the descriptions of the individual islands.

The individual island communities are quite unique and must be experienced by visiting the islands where there are fine harbours for ferries, private boats and sea kayaks.

The summer months provide the perfect opportunity for an Archipelago cruise!
